ポーランドを代表するジャズ・ヴァイオリニスト、アダム・バウディヒ（Adam Baldych）が、新たに結成した多国籍カルテットでの演奏を収録した新譜『Endless』をリリースした。僕はこの音楽家の音色や表現力が大好きなので、やや偏愛的なレビューになってしまうかもしれないけれど、やはり彼の音楽は最高だ。この地球上で最高に美しい音楽のひとつだと言って過言ではないと思う。

2019年のブリタニー・ハワード（Brittany Howard）のソロ作『Jaime』が唯一無二の素晴らしい出来栄えだったから、彼女のバンドであるアラバマ・シェイクス（Alabama Shakes）が11年ぶりの新譜『I Must Be Dreaming』をリリースしたと知ってさっそく聴いてみた。結論、今作は同バンドの初期の「ブルース・ロックの新星」というイメージからは随分と進化した、“サイケデリック・ソウルの現在地”と呼べるような作品だった。

グレッチェン・パーラトと言えば、セロニアス・モンク・コンペティションで優勝し、シーンに多大な影響を与え続けるヴォーカリストと知られている。しかし、彼女の偉大さはそこだけではない。彼女は歌だけでなく、自作曲の作曲、カヴァー曲の編曲、そして、歌詞や作品のコンセプトなどにおいても後の世代に大きな影響を与えてきた。そもそもジャズヴォーカリストが作詞作曲編曲を自身の手で行い、あらゆるジャンルを融合した自由なサウンドを自身の手で作り上げる2010年代以降のロールモデルとしてのグレッチェンの歴史的な意義はもっと語られてもいいはずだ。続きをみる

メキシコ出身で現在はロサンゼルスを拠点に活動するベーシスト/作曲家マウリシオ・モラレス（Mauricio Morales）と、アメリカ合衆国出身のピアニスト/作曲家アダム・ハーシュ（Adam Hersh）による初の共作アルバム『Between Dreams & Twilight』。2025年11月に発表された本作には、ギタリストのマイク・モレノ（Mike Moreno）、ヴィブラフォン奏者のウォーレン・ウルフ（Warren Wolf）、そしてドラマーのゲイリー・ノヴァク（Gary Novak）に加え、ストリングス・アンサンブルのローグ・レモン・コレクティヴ（Rogue Lemon Collective）も参加している。
